Yoga for Seniors

Dr. Suri was trained and certified in Kripalu yoga and has taught yoga to seniors privately and in groups for more than fifteen years. His primary objective in teaching yoga is to expand the life-force (the flow of prana) in order to promote thriving in all aspects of life. What makes this style of hatha yoga so ideally suited for seniors is that it is gentle yet challenging.

The Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, Massachusetts is one of the largest, most established center for yoga and holistic health in the United States. Kripalu Yoga promotes the awakening of the life force (prana). Using classic asanas, pranayama, meditation, and relaxation techniques, Kripalu Yoga increases awareness of body, breath, and mind and encourages natural alignment.

Although Dr. Suri emphasizes the mechanics of yoga (proper breath and alignment) there is a spiritual dimension to the practice that is available to the student if he/she wishes to pursue it inwardly. Additionally, students are encouraged to honor the wisdom of their bodies and to work according to its limits and strengths.
